May is finally here and the earth is starting to truly burst into full color. I love this time of year it is between the brilliant, unwashed colors of Summer and the dreary, tiredness of Winter. The colors are happy and full. As if trying to make up for the gray of winter, the flowers show off their blooms of yellow, red, blues, and whites. Let’s not forget the purples and pink sides as well.
The colors of May are nature-full. The yellow of the sun and the center of a daisy. The green is no longer that electric green, but the more muted tones of avocado and olive oil greens. The soft cream colors of butter and the blue of the ocean are part of this month’s palette.
Pantone’s color of the year is called Veri-Peri, a Happy Periwinkle Blue. It is again that color of nature, that happy blue that is perhaps a bit muted. On the other end of the spectrum is Etsy’s pick for color of the year, Emerald Green. personally, I love the idea of emerald green and Veri Peri together. Perhaps stripped?.
All of the colors I have seen have all been that earthy pretty color palette that seems quite relaxing. My garden in the back is washed in creamy yellows and whites. Pops of pinks and purples are here and there. Soon my Citrus trees will bloom and scent the patio with their heady perfumes. The colors of May and, indeed, 2022, are what I would call, backyard garden colors.
