September 11

On  September 11, 2001 the United States of America was attacked by Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda terrorist network.

“The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today…We think it’s Osama bin Laden.” President Bush as written is his journal September 11, 2001.

I remember waking up and wandering into the living room to have my mother (who was living with me at the time) telling me we have been attacked. I honestly didn’t believe her, she has been known to stretch the truth. I had to get ready for a big meeting I was to attend that day, so kind of ignored her a bit. As I walked around getting ready to go, i glanced at the tv and saw the towers collapse. It was a what the f*ck moment for me. I sat down and listened. I was a bit stunned but had a meeting and I went ahead and left. No one and I mean just about no one was on the freeway.  Long story short, ithe meeting didn’t happen and i went home. The biggest thing was that feeling of being uneasy and waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was on edge for quite a while. Like most I watched the tv for days.

The bottom line is that many people lost their lives that day. The motivations, the politics all that aside, many lost their lives. People who went to work that day died. People who got on a plane, perhaps to visit their relatives or to finally go on vacation, died. People who rushed to the scene trying to help others died. A lot of people died. People from more than 90 countries died. It was truly an attack not only on America but on the world.

The following are the number of people who died at each site:

World Trade Center        2,823 (includes airline passengers)
Pentagon                     125 (not including plane victims)
Flight 11                         92 people on board
Flight 175                       64 people on board
Flight 77                        64 people on board
Flight 93                        44 people on board

Let us not forget these victims. Let us not forget them, ever. I wont.
