January-To Watch

Movies that I love for January

Who doesn’t like to spend a day watching movies? Cold, windy, rainy, snowy weather of January gives us a perfect excuse to do just that. Here are the movies that I recommend.

For the littles 3+

The Snowman

The snowman is based on the picture book of the same name Raymond Briggs. It tells the story, without words, of a little boy who builds a snowman. The snowman comes to life at midnight and the boy and snowman have grand adventures. The boy shows the snowman things in the house while being quiet so as not to wake the parents. They find a motorcycle and take off into the woods, eventually running into a party of snowmen and meeting Father Christmas with his reindeer. The next morning the snowman has melted, so a little bit sad.

Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Wallace and Gromit set out to discover the mystery behind the garden sabotage that plagues their village and threatens the annual giant vegetable growing contest. An inventor who loves cheese, Wallace, is quite eccentric. Gromit is his intelligent anthropomorphic dog. The two have quite a few adventures together and in this movie, they solve the curse of the Were-Rabbit.

The NeverEnding Story

The NeverEnding Story is about Bastien who is a bit of an outcast and loves to read books. He starts to read a book that tells the story of a young hero (Atreyu)who is tasked with stopping the Nothing from engulfing the land of Fantasia. The Childlike Empress is ill and Atreyu believes if he can cure the Empress the nothing will be defeated. It is a magical tale that takes you on a journey complete with a Furry Luck Dragon.

For the Growned Ups (rated R)

The Matrix

What would you do if you woke suddenly to find that you have been born and bred by machines to produce energy to keep them (the machines) going? Everything you thought you knew about your life was not true and you were actually living in a bleak war-torn future world. The Matrix tells the story of Neo who is “The One” who can turn the tide against the machines and save what’s left of the humans. Action Packed story and definitely worth watching again and again. When you are doing watching you can watch Matrix, you can also continue the story with The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, and the newer one the Matrix Resurrections.

Have fun and don’t forget the popcorn.

Oh , also, in case you were not sure, these recommendations are based on movies that I personally like. Not an expert critic or movie recommendation person.
