A day in the life

April

The First Month With 30 Days

The month of April is said to bring the rains in order to have flowers in May. It is our first real taste of springtime and it is glorious. We have already had a few beautiful perfect temperature sunny days. It is sometimes hard to remember that we are not quite to the temperate weather stage. I always get so disappointed when suddenly it is colder and it is cloudy. I am looking forward to sunny days and no more dreary gray days. Although if you live in the southern hemisphere you are starting your autumn days and perhaps have those gray days to look forward to.

How April Got Its Name

April name origin is up for debate. There are theories, that April was named after Aphrodite, or Venus, or perhaps a god unknown named Apru. The traditional etymology suggests that it comes from the Latin word, Aprilis, meaning to open. That makes sense as spring is the season of trees and flowers opening.
