New Years Eve

New Year’s Eve is upon us! It is traditionally a time of year that we make resolutions; promises to ourselves that we intend to keep in order to improve some perceived deficit in our lives. The funny thing about resolutions is that up to 92% are not, 80% of those fail by January 20. Yet we continue to make them. The most popular New Year’s resolutions are:

  1.  Stop Smoking
  2. Exercise
  3. Lose Weight
  4. Enjoy Life More.
  5. Quit Drinking
  6.  Get Organized
  7.  Learn Something New
  8. Get out of Debt
  9. Spend More Time With Family
  10.  Help People.

One could also get very sappy and talk about new beginnings, leaving the old, ushering in the new, but really, it’s all about the New Year’s Eve party. It is a way to have one last party why we still have the holiday spirit upon us. One last shinding, one last hurrah. Besides if one wakes up the next morning on New Year’s Day and someone feels it is necessary to tell you what drunken escapades you engaged in, you can always smile and say, “Yes, but that was last year!”
