Mourning Dove

Mourning Doves

Went for a walk this morning. It was a beautiful morning as well. We had thunderstorms and lots of rain last night so everything had been washed clean by the rain. It was  so quiet and calm. The whole world just smelled nice. There was also  that feeling of anticipation in the air as there is another storm rolling in. Just a glorious time for a walk and of course the light was awesome for pictures. Not that bad light has ever stopped me. Anyway, today not only are there many more spring flowers (which I will post in just a bit) but this time I happened to  run into a Mourning Dove pair. They had decided in true dove fashion that the top of a rusty storage shed was the best place of all to build a nest.  To that end they were looking for some sticks to lay down. Doves do not really build nests, they lay down some sticks and twigs, then lay a egg or two.  I do hope that they are successful in their endeavors. I must say  am not all that hopeful as there is not only a Red-Tailed Hawk that lives in the area but a couple of white Kites. Survival among Mourning Doves is low in this area. Below are the pictures  I got of the happy couple.
