A Poem

I wrote a sentence when I was about 18 years old. The sentence referred to my brother who was my hero when I was little. He was murder when I was just 9 and I have missed him ever since.I did not know at the time how to put it into a poem. I still don’t. The following poem is due, in large part, to my friend Martin Bannon, a real poet, for helping and coaching me until I had a poem. Thank you Martin Bannon!

Never Forgotten

I heard your voice
echo in the caverns of my mind
it came around forgotten pillars
through the valleys,
scattering, gone
leaving me bereft
